CIPS Australia Mentoring Programme
Mentoring is an important way of supporting the learning and development of those new or developing in their profession whilst also providing an opportunity for business leaders to contribute back to the profession.
CIPSA’s Mentoring Programme has been developed to foster the growth and development of up and coming procurement professionals by providing the ability to interact with leaders in the profession. Mentees will have the opportunity to learn from experienced practitioners, expand their informal networks and discuss work /career issues in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
The Programme aims to:
- raise the profile of procurement;
- show those who are new to the profession that there is a career path in procurement;
- provide networking opportunities with procurement leaders within the CIPSA community; and
- provide CIPSA leaders with an opportunity to contribute back to the profession.
CIPSA’s Mentoring Programme is a SA/NT Committee initiative. It is a brand new project for 2010 and will be available to all procurement professionals within the SA/NT region. It is hoped the Programme will be operating on a national level shortly. Please see a list of CIPSA mentors below.

CIPSA SA Members explore the practical application of scenario planning
On Tuesday 20th April, the SA procurement community met at Normans Lawyers in Adelaide to learn about the concept of scenario planning and how it can assist with de-risking their supply chains.
A total of 30 members and non-members had the privilege of hearing from Paul Rogers (FCIPS), an acclaimed academic and professional developer with more than 20 years experience and currently the Practice Manager for PMMS Consulting Group. Paul took them through the key leading indicators of possible future problems and how to develop their own preventative and contingent plans to protect their supply chains.
Rogers’ provided a breadth of experience and real-life practical examples to convey the concept of scenario planning and guidance on how to see ‘over the horizon’. Paul ensured the session was interactive and provided attendees with the opportunity to apply this technique to a possible scenario. The CIPSA SA committee would like to thank Paul for taking the time to come to Adelaide and present to the SA procurement community.
The CIPSA committee would also like to thank Veda Advantage for kindly sponsoring this event. Attendees had the privilege of hearing from Stephen Moloney, Sales Manager at Veda Advantage discuss supplier vulnerability and Veda’s procurement risk management solutions.
