Corporate award

The applied learning route to MCIPS

At CIPS, we’re committed to helping you get the best out of your procurement staff and practices. One of the ways we do this is through our Corporate Award Programme (CAP).

The Corporate Award is a tailored, accredited and applied training programme designed to develop professional procurement expertise. Through this programme, we ensure that your employees’ knowledge and skills are up-to-date and having a tangible impact in the workplace. We’ve also designed the Award in such a way that it delivers a demonstrable return on investment (ROI) and measurable cost benefits.

Tailored learning for organisational excellence

We recognise that every organisation is different, and we tailor each Corporate Award programme to meet  individual needs. Through this tailored approach, we ensure that specific organisational issues, rather than abstract theoretical problems, are tackled head-on.

Designed to challenge and stimulate creative thinking, the Corporate Award is best suited to groups of between eight and 16 people. It harnesses tacit knowledge within an organisation and transforms individuals into internal ‘consultants’, helping to raise the profile of your in-house expertise and develop competitive advantage.

Over the years, we’ve developed a highly successful process for the design and delivery of the Corporate Award. This process is built on the experience and insight we’ve accrued through our work with a wide range of members and clients.

Through the Corporate Award programme, we can help you:

  • achieve tangible ROI from projects
  • bring about changes in workplace performance, attitude and behaviour
  • achieve recognition for professionalism among suppliers and other buyers
  • unlock staff potential, develop internal expertise and increase talent management opportunities
  • MCIPS status recognised globally

How the program works

We provide cost-effective, modular study programmes to suit your organisation’s work patterns.

The first level of the CIPS Corporate Award leads to the Corporate Award Procurement Practitioner and awards Associate Membership status.

At the more advanced level, the Corporate Award Advanced Practitioner enables full membership and, providing the individual has attained three years experience in a responsible role in purchasing, permits them to use MCIPS after their name.

Studying for our programmes can be a challenge but many students find that they can obtain invaluable support from working with colleagues on an in-house programme.

The highlights:

  • Skills gap analysis for all participants
  • Interactive workshops
  • Practical assignments
  • Live business project
  • Multi channel delivery of learning
  • Global standard of accredited training
  • Tailor made for both the organisation and individuals

What our customers say

There is an obvious improvement in the knowledge base of those participating and their understanding of procurement, the procurement process and contract law.

They now possess a greater ability to deal with their peers, both within other government departments and from the private sector, on a level playing field of professionalism.”

Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency UK

The enhanced professionalism of the teams has raised the credibility of the function within the organisation and helped to facilitate greater focus on supply chain matters.

And not least, the projects undertaken as part of the programme have delivered measurable benefits and savings and all successful students have gone on to deliver further savings in their procurement roles.”

QinetiQ

As a business Perkins is underpinned strongly by 6Sigma methodology. Within the advanced programme of Corporate Award it was a mandatory requirement for each person to lead and develop a 6Sigma project to deliver bottom line benefit to the business.

The overall savings from the first wave of students was $1.1m in value proposition.”
