How Can Your Function Drive Value?

with Richard Lowthian, Westpac

Auckland CIPS Event Wednesday, 28 May 2008

Ambitious CPOs now want to influence top line revenue, innovation and new product development as well as bottom line savings. But how exactly?

Today, more CEO's have an appreciation for the impact the procurement role can have on a organisation's revenue line and working capital in addition to the traditional focus on the bottom line.

What is the true value available from procurement?
How do you engage in a conversation with your CEO regarding this and more importantly how do you ensure that potential value is realised?

Hear Richard Lowthian's (Head of Sourcing for Westpac NZ) story of his journey over the last 12 months since taking on this challenge and some of his secrets to success and how the  procurement team can bring innovation to an organisation and become involved in new product development. Richard will share some practical advice that will be able to apply to your own organisation.

About Richard:
Richard is currently Head of Sourcing for Westpac NZ Limited based in Auckland. He has been at Westpac over 7 years and led the legal team before making the switch to lead the Sourcing team in early 2007.

Prior to joining Westpac, Richard worked as a corporate lawyer for the French Bank, Societe Generale, in Paris as well as having a successful career in private practice. A graduate of Cambridge University, Richard has extensive international management experience and leadership qualities.
