Inspiring Positive Change
* Do you struggle to gain senior level attention and support?
* Is getting buy-in from business owners an uphill battle?
* Does success depend on changing the behaviour of others?
* Can the way you think limit your potential to achieve better results?
Then this event is for you!
The CIPS New Zealand committee is delighted to invite CIPS members and other professionals to this first of four premium Wellington events. Join us as 2 leading experts challenge our understanding of change, share their latest thinking and inspire us with real-world examples.
Hamish More (Principle, HP Consulting), a recognised expert in organisational change, will share practical insights, and some theory, of what happens when organisations embark on a change programme. Hamish is a passionate, entertaining speaker who believes successful organisational change is the product of inspired leadership, rather than good change “management”.
Dr Patrick McCarthy (Medical Practitioner), an authority in positive thinking, reveals how you can train yourself to think like an optimist through the practical application of recent psychological research. Not afraid to take a dose of his own medicine, Patrick demonstrates through his own public speaking achievements just how effective these techniques can be.
This event has been generously supported by the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Starfish Consulting, which provides a business-wide set of consulting services, including strategic procurement, for private and public sector organisations.

Ministry of Economic Development chief welcomes CIPS launch in New Zealand
Last month's launch of CIPS in New Zealand was welcomed by the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Economic Development, Geoff Dangerfield, who spoke at the Wellington event attended by more than 80 people. The Auckland event attracted even more supporters.
Dangerfield welcomed the opportunity to raise the profile and expertise in Purchasing, particularly within the public sector whose collective spend equates to a significant proportion of NZ's GDP. He said that the introduction of an independent professional institute was fundamental to generating success. "We are working to ensure New Zealand is one of the best places in the world to do business and to make New Zealand business successful on the world stage," he said.
The programme for the evening included Jonathan Dutton MCIPS, Managing Director, CIPS Australia and guest speakers Stephen Rowe, Chief Procurement Officer, of Parmalat Australia and Andrew Tubb, Managing Consultant, of IBM.
Please see Stephen Rowe's presentation available for download here, and Andrew Tubb's presentation available for download here.
CIPS NZ will follow its successful launch with an education and networking event at the end of May in both Auckland and Wellington. This event will provide NZ procurement practitioners with the opportunity to find out more about CIPS professional development options and how to gain recognition of their skills and experience through the CIPS qualification framework.
A full open training programme is being offered this year in Auckland and Wellington and the CIPS NZ national conference will be held on 14 June in Auckland. NZ's Minister of Commerce has accepted CIPS invitation to open the conference.
