IN-COMPANY TRAINING
CIPS Australia offers a broad range of tailored in-company training programmes which are both relevant and targeted to meet current assessed business needs and priorities.
All the above Open Training courses can be delivered in-company and tailored to your organisational and individual needs. We can also develop bespoke courses covering specific areas of interest in your organisational structure, culture and working environment.
A business diagnostic and skills gap analysis is an important step in the process of developing a programme which aligns skills gas with current business needs and goals.

CORPORATE AWARD PROGRAMME – “APPLIED LEARNING” LEADING TO MCIPS
The CIPS Australia Corporate Award Programme is a tailored accredited and applied training programme that is designed to develop an individual’s professional procurement expertise. It equips participants with the ability and opportunity to apply and implement the knowledge they have gained within their working environment and to deliver a significant return on the training investment to their organisation. The programme offers an intense, unique route to accreditation as a Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply, MCIPS, which is a degree level accreditation and the internationally recognised industry standard of professional competence in procurement. View the Corporate Award Programme Model here.
These programmes are delivered on an open consortium basis involving delegates from a number of different organisations and we can also develop bespoke programmes for delivery in-house to a single organisation looking to develop a team of procurement professionals (between 10 and 16 is ideal).
The programme is delivered through a series of 1 or 2 day highly interactive modules and workshops over a 12 month period. Between workshops delegates are given assignments and a business based project to help reinforce the learning process. The assignments and project are independently assessed and provide CIPS Australia with a basis to understand the level of knowledge and capability of each delegate and to test the ability of the participants to apply and implement tools and techniques studied and practised throughout the programme.
The teaching modules cover topics such as:
o identifying stakeholder needs
o business engagement and alignment
o value chain improvement
o supply market dynamics
o managing business relationships
o risk management
o finance for procurement
o e-commerce
o contract law
o supplier performance management
o creative influencing techniques
For the delegate, the Corporate Award Programme provides the means to build the ‘all-round’ skills needed to operate in an increasingly challenging and constantly changing commercial environment. Through the use of mentors and the business based project, they are given the opportunity for exposure to senior management and for building confidence in dealing with internal stakeholders. By successfully completing the course delegates will have demonstrated their competency as a procurement professional and be entitled to full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply and the use of the prestigious MCIPS letters after their name.
Participating organisations benefit from the Corporate Award Programme through development of an increasingly capable and experienced procurement team that is able to deliver value through engaging with the business and more effectively managing third party expenditure. This not only increases credibility for the procurement function but also attracts internal candidates who are of high calibre as well as enhancing the reputation of the organisation in the supply market. In addition, it is expected that measurable benefits should come from the business based project that each of the delegates is required to undertake. We have found that the savings generated by the business project often either significantly contribute toward or completely pay for the delegate’s course fee.
“The CIPS Corporate Award programme undertaken by Westland Helicopters has proved highly successful for the company. Among the benefits reported are potential process improvements, including better systems in tendering and selection of suppliers, identification of business opportunities and a significant improvement in team working. The project undertaken by one student resulted in an idea for an innovative new customer service that could become an important addition to the company’s product portfolio. As a result of the CIPS Corporate Award, we have identified potential savings of £10million in purchases and £500,000 in process improvements from the project work undertaken by the students and from improved professionalism. This estimated total payback of £10.5million is more than 100 times the investment in the programme.”
Rob Cook, Procurement Director, Westland Helicopters

THE CIPS QUALIFICATIONS LADDER

In response to the development of the UK National Occupational Standards for Supply Chain Management, CIPS has updated existing CIPS qualifications and established an enhanced, more flexible industry led qualifications framework which better aligns with current industry standards and needs.
This new educational framework was only recently launched in Australia.
The new qualifications ladder brings more breadth and depth to professional development opportunities with different levels designed to equate to specific job roles and responsibilities and offering more qualification levels. This allows structured professional progression along a clear learning path permitting practitioners to align training to their job roles and responsibilities.
