Commitee Profile - Tage Tveit

Tage TveitTage arrived in Australia 2001 from Norway with the intention of staying 3 years to complete Bachelor degree.  He completed his Bachelor of Business at the Queensland University of Technology, graduating in 2003.  He also completed a Master of Science in International Business from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, graduating in 2005.

By this time the attraction of Australia was pretty strong, and he was in the first intake of graduates in the Queensland Government’s Procurement Professional Graduate Programme selected at the end of 2005.  In early 2006, Tage commenced work in Queensland Purchasing (now Queensland Government Chief Procurement Office) where he worked initially on standing offer arrangements before moving to the policy area.  In late 2006, Tage moved to Parmalat, Australia where he manages several significant contracts.  In 2007 he achieved his MCIPS.

Evening seminar

On Wednesday evening, 20th February 2008, over 50 CIPSA Queensland Region members and guests gathered at the Novotel, Brisbane for their most recent evening event.  The guest speaker at this function was, Mr Glen Hamilton, who is the Manager Group Procurement, Stanwell Corporation Limited.

Glen drew on his 25 years experience in the electricity industry to provide those gathered with an insightful presentation on progressive procurement reforms initiated by him at Stanwell.  In particular, Glen highlighted the reforms currently underway at Stanwell on the sourcing of engineering consultancy services which included an explanation of the new systems,  live panel arrangements and dynamic VFM for the different categories of services.

This presentation provided an insight into how Stanwell is addressing the sourcing of engineering consultancy services which is a commodity vital to the operation of an industry built on engineering expertise. There were parallels to be drawn for all those involved in engaging professional consultancy services.  After the presentation members were keen to question Glen further on his experiences and expertise.

As always members and guests were able to mingle before and after the event over some light refreshments.  These events are proving to be an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from the procurement profession.
