Organisations need to ensure that their assets are efficiently utilised and support the delivery of organisational strategies.  This means the development of asset management strategies that drive business plans and ensure that strategic asset management becomes part of resource and business planning.  Asset management responsibilities need to be clearly defined and skilled personnel made accountable for the development, management and measurement of asset utilisation.  This includes developing and using performance measurement and management tools.
