Will anybody else see my results or are they totally confidential?
Results are posted to you at your home address, and a full listing of results is also sent to the college or examination centre. Results for the May and November external examinations are also published on this website with password protected access. No one else can know your results. We cannot and do not disclose results over the telephone. Please don't ask!
Where can I study CIPS qualifications?
There are several ways to study to fit your lifestyle...
When will I receive my results?
For May examinations during the first ten days of August.
For November examinations during the first ten days of February.
What other help is available to me?
What if the second marker upgrades my results?
If, as a result of the appeals procedure a second marker disagrees with the first marker's result, and this result is an upward change of grade band, CIPS will refund the fee for the appeal in full. Please see the appeals procedure in the policies and procedure section under CIPS qualifications. View the appeals procedure here.
My membership grade has changed. Will my membership card be re-issued to reflect this?
New membership cards are printed on the anniversary of your membership renewal. The new card will reflect your new membership grade.
If there isn't an examination centre near my home - what do I do?
If there is not a centre within reasonable travelling distance, alternative arrangements can be made. Please contact an Examinations Officer at CIPS if this applies to you.
I have taken my examination(s). How do I enrol to sit another examination or re-sit one?
Examinations are held every May and November. Please go to Examination Procedures for dates.
I have passed a Level in my qualification route. When can I expect my certificate for that Level?
Certificates will be sent within 8 weeks of results being issued.
How long will a feedback report take?
If you would like a feedback report you must apply for it within TWO weeks of receiving your result. The feedback report will be sent to you within six to eight weeks of your application. Please see the appeals procedure.
How have my results been calculated?
The marks allocated to each question were shown on the examination question paper. The total marks awarded are shown on your results letter.
How do I qualify for exemptions in certain examinations?
Exemptions are granted if you have a qualification of an equivalent level which has covered one or more unit subjects in any of the CIPS Qualifications. You can also apply for exemptions on the basis of experiential learning. Click here for more information on exemptions.
How can I get feedback on my examination performance?
Individual feedback reports for each subject can be requested from CIPS. They will give information on how you performed in an examination. Please see the appeals procedure.
How can I find out the average pass rate for this examination?
CIPS publish statistics for every subject for the November and May exams, these are available for download on the CIPS website.
Do I need to continue to pay my subscriptions if I have completed all my examinations?
If you wish to retain member benefits and use the designatory letters MCIPS, you must continue to pay your annual subscription. Members who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma will enjoy a reduced interim fee for the first year of full Membership. CIPS Membership certificates will only be despatched to those successful candidates whose subscriptions have been paid.
Do I have to register as a member before I can take examinations?

Can you raise an invoice for an individual exam registration?
We are unable to invoice for examination entries. Payment can be made by credit/debit card, cheque or BACS.
Can I use the designatory letters after my name?
Only Full Members are entitled to use the letters MCIPS and Fellows are entitled to use the letters FCIPS. There are no designatory letters for the Affiliate, Student, Certificate, Diploma and Associate grades.
Can I use a PC or Word Processor in the examination room?
No, however, CIPS has a policy of helping any students with particular special needs. Please contact an Examinations Officer at CIPS so we can arrange to help you.
Can I obtain a copy of the Examiners' Reports?
Examiners' Reports are available to download free of charge on the CIPS website.
Can I attend the CIPS Graduation Ceremony?
Yes! If you have completed the Graduate Diploma and are a fully subscribed member, you are eligible to attend the Graduation Ceremony. To check on your membership status, please contact qualifications@cips.org
