How to influence the executive board to get support for procurement
The Yorkshire branch would like to invite you to their first event of 2009. The format of this event is a social networking event where we will have THREE key guest speakers that members can meet and talk to over canapés and a glass or two of wine in the exclusive environment of “3 Albion Place LS1”, formerly called The Club, Leeds.

Aims
The aim of this event is to provide members with an insight into how having board representation for procurement can help with creating value add for an organisation and how we can leverage off relationships at board level to increase the credibility of the procurement function within an organisation.

Speakers / Facilitators
Gerard Chick
Gerard is Head of Knowledge Management at CIPS where he leads the Institute’s thought leadership activities. Since joining CIPS in 2002 he has focused on cutting edge procurement practice and the impact of the latest academic thinking on it, with a particular focus on the coming imperatives for the business discipline of procurement. Prior to CIPS he was Head of Research Services at The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine where he was responsible for managing the spend relating to the School’s research portfolio.
Guy Strafford
Guy is responsible for Client and Business Development at procurement services provider Buying Team. Guy joined in 1996 where he gained experience within consultancy before moving into business development. Guy trained as a Chartered Accountant with PMG.
Tim Richardson
Tim is the General Manager, Procurement Strategy and Operations, has been working on the transformation of Procurement in British Airways since 2001. He was responsible for introducing strategic sourcing to the business, before moving on to lead the eProcurement programme that implemented Ariba Buyer to a mass audience throughout BA. Today he heads up a shared service centre focussing on BA's worldwide procurement operations, in addition to defining overall procurement strategy.
Fees information
CIPS members can attend this event free of charge.
Non members must pay £20 to attend.

The Branch committee members and speakers will be going for dinner after the event. Any members who would like to join us will be welcome. Venue to be decided. Costs are not covered by CIPS, and is at own cost.
