Workshops and Seminars
Contract drafting
Develop practical skills to draft robust contracts for services and goods. Learn from two experts – a solicitor and a barrister – bring to life the contract documents and leverage resilient supplier relationships. (2 day seminar)
Aims
Highlights at a glance: Draft and assess contracts
Improve poor drafts of various clauses
Explore the form of the written contract
Highly interactive seminar with five practical sessions.
Your relationship with your supplier begins with courtship, may lead to marriage and could end in separation. The decisions which you make when putting a contract together will underpin your future dealings: they are decisions which you cannot afford to get wrong.
This invaluable seminar will equip you with the practical skills to draft robust contracts for services and goods. Led by two experts – one a solicitor, one a barrister – these two days will bring to life the contract document and will provide the keystones necessary for resilient supplier relationships.
The emphasis of this seminar is on practical sessions which have been designed to encourage delegate participation.
Five practical sessions take place over the two-day event giving delegates the opportunity to:
- improve poor drafts of various clauses
- draft a contract for the Supply of Services from a case study
- hear speakers ‘negotiate’ a draft contract for the purchase of goods, agreeing or disputing clauses in the document
- in teams, delegates will negotiate a purchase contract using a case study
- draft a contract for the Supply of Goods from a case study followed by speakers who will present a model contract.
Who should attend
Due to the high level of delegate participation, this seminar is recommended for purchasing and contract management personnel who already have sound background knowledge of contract law. An ideal preparation for “Contract Drafting” would be attendance on the “Making Contracts: the fundamental legal principles for buyers and suppliers” and the “Law for the Buyer” events.
Benefits of attending
These two days represent a sound investment in an individual’s development and an organisation’s success.
By the end of this programme delegates will:
- have had an opportunity to draft and have assessed a contract for the supply of services
- in small teams have negotiated a purchase contract
- have drafted a contract for the sale of goods.
