Alison Barto, FCIPS

GBT Chair

Alison Barto first joined GBT in 2016 and is Chair of our Global Board of Trustees, as well as Chair of the CIPS Foundation Committee and CIPS Remuneration Committee. She has held a range of procurement roles.

Alison's most recent role was as HSBC’s Head of Government Schemes, where she coordinated the bank’s response to Covid-19 loans, working with UK businesses, HM Treasury, and the British Business Bank. Prior to that she was Chief Procurement Officer for HSBC and was responsible for managing $15bn of third party spend globally. Alison has a Bachelor of Engineering degree and is a Fellow of CIPS.

Adil Mohammad, FCIPS

GBT Trustee

In November 2020, Adil became the Supply Chain General Manager for Shell’s Gasto-Liquids business in Qatar. In this role, he pioneered the digital transformation of the supply chain for Shell’s $19 billion Pearl asset.

The pearl asset is the world’s largest gas-to-liquids facility.

Adil's focus was on developing the team’s digital skills, fostering a culture of digital innovation, introducing generative AI-powered procurement governance, and implementing the initial elements of a ‘digital twin’ for the complex supply chain.

Adil completed the MCIPS qualification early in his career and was awarded Fellowship in recognition of his work in promoting the profession and the Institute. He has been an active member of the CIPS Central London branch and was a founding member of the CIPS Qatar Branch. Recently, he has initiated a revamp of the Fellows network in Qatar.

Wael Safwat, FCIPS ExDip

GBT Trustee

Wael is a seasoned business executive with over 29 years of international experience. He currently serves as the Middle East Lead for Sustainable Procurement & Value Chain at Accenture.

Wael has held senior roles as Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific for Fortune 500 companies and prominent regional conglomerates. His expertise in procurement and supply chain management has led to award-winning transformation programs that have significantly advanced the capabilities of leading organisations.

In addition to his executive roles, Wael is an expert in sustainability and shared services. He has successfully developed and implemented global transformation roadmaps, operating models, digital solutions, and upskilling programs.

A veteran member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) for over 20 years, Wael currently chairs the CIPS MENA Fellows and is a member of the CIPS Global Membership Committee.

Kenneth Jones

GBT Trustee

Ken Jones has dedicated thirty years to international development projects in Africa, South Asia, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe. Alongside lecturing in accounting and finance, Ken has extensive experience in audit, risk, and performance.

Ken is has experience in financial management at several organisations. Until June 2022, he was the Chief Operating Officer of TradeMark East Africa, leading the procurement function and holding responsibility for over $1bn of spend. He is a governor and board member at multiple third-sector organisations and currently sits on the CIPS Foundation Committee.

Henrik Larsen, FCIPS

GBT Trustee

Henrik Larsen worked at A.P Moller – Maersk Group for over 40 years. His career took him across the world, from training in San Francisco to management positions in the United Arab Emirates, Europe, and South America.

His final role with the company was Chief Procurement Officer, managing a global workforce from the Maersk Procurement head office in Copenhagen. Today, Henrik is a board member and advisor to multiple organisations. As well as being a CIPS trustee, Henrik is the Chair of the Membership Committee and sits on the CIPS Nominations Committee.

Rachael Legg, FCIPS

GBT Trustee

Rachael Legg is an expert in procurement, business change and transformation. For over 20 years, she’s been driving profitability and enabling growth at organisations in a range of sectors, including food, retail, media, and law.

She is currently the Group Chief Procurement Officer at Lightsource bp, as well as an advisor to CIPS and Pancreatic Cancer Action. Rachael has a Master’s in Engineering, Manufacture and Management and is studying the Executive MBA at Warwick Business School. Rachael currently sits on the CIPS Remuneration Committee.

Garry Mansell, FCIPS

GBT Trustee

Garry Mansell began his career in research and computing, moving into supply chain, procurement, and management positions with Mars. He developed one of the first online freight buying businesses, Freight Traders.

He founded and managed Trade Extensions, an e-sourcing startup based in Sweden. Garry has helped many startups raise funding and scale operations and is an active angel investor with a focus on female-led tech businesses. He has also served as the president of the British and the European Shippers’ Councils and is the current Chair of the CIPS Nominations Committee.

Juliet Sotnick, FCIPS

GBT Trustee

Juliet Sotnick was VP Procurement and Supply Chain at IHS Towers, focusing on emerging international markets. She has served as Chief Procurement and Supply Chain Officer and Chief Sustainability Officer at Babcock International Group.

In this role, she was leading a global team of 1,000 people. Prior to that, she was Group Head of Procurement at Sky and Managing Director at Bear Stearns & Co. in New York. Juliet holds a Masters in Business Administration from New York University, has completed the Executive Education for Sustainability Leadership Programme at Harvard University and is an accredited Executive Coach. Juliet has been a Fellow of CIPS since 2016.

Tracy Staines

GBT Trustee

Tracy Staines has over 24 years of experience in audit and risk management. She is currently the Inspector General of the Global Fund. She has spent 11 years driving change and contributing to the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

She has previously led audit and investigations teams in the banking sector and the UK Civil Service. Tracy is a member of multiple chartered institutes and holds two non-executive positions in the public and not-for-profit sectors. Tracy currently sits on the CIPS Audit Committee.

Professor Richard Wilding, FCIPS, OBE

GBT Trustee

Richard Wilding is a global thought leader in logistics, procurement, and supply chain management. He is the Emeritus Professor of Supply Chain Strategy at Cranfield School of Management.

There he explores topics such as supply chain 4.0 and balancing supply chain impact on people, planet, and profits. Richard was the previous chair of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and holds multiple non-executive directorships and sits on the CIPS Remuneration Committee. He was named by procurious.com as a top 10 global game changer during Covid-19.

Suzanne Wise

GBT Trustee

Suzanne Wise is a lawyer by professional background and a sustainability expert. She has been a board director and senior executive with extensive experience across a diverse range of industries.

This experience ranges from the consumer and FMCG manufacturing sector, to the rail and infrastructure sectors. She has worked within large, complex and multinational private, public regulated industry and not-for-profit entities. Suzanne retired from her executive career in 2022, returning to the UK in 2023 and is a strategy consultant focusing on climate change and sustainability, and their impact on business.

Jay Doyle

GBT Trustee

Jay is the Group Procurement Director and Chief Procurement Officer at ITV Plc, a global FTSE listed Media and Entertainment business. In this role, he lead the modernisation of ITV's procurement and supply chain functions

Jay's modernisation efforts helped to achieve significant cost efficiencies, and supported the company's digital transformation. Prior to ITV, Jay led several global, large-scale, and complex procurement and supply chain transformation programmes across aerospace and defence, banking, logistics, and consumer electronics.

Throughout his career, Jay has been recognised for his leadership and strong ability to create competitive advantage by aligning functional goals to broader business strategies. His commitment to driving progressive, sustainable and resilient business practices continues to influence his work today.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is a sub-committee of the Global Board of Trustees. The Committee supports the development of our membership representation, whilst encouraging innovative ways to improve how we capture and act upon our members voices.
