Kevin Okinda MCIPS Chartered
Member of Volunteer Management Committee

I volunteer with CIPS to help raise the profile of the supply chain profession in Africa. By being a congress member, I form a two day communication channel between CIPS and student members. I know the needs of the African CIPS students.

Therefore I am sure that being part of the volunteer community, I can help to influence the CIPS agenda to discuss and cater for the unique needs of the students in Africa. I also want to later look back at the satisfaction of the job I will have done, both for myself and for the supply chain profession across Africa, by helping formulate strategies and moulding the future of both the students and the profession in Africa.

Oliver Jones FCIPS
Branch Chair, Derby & East Midlands

As a branch volunteer and chair for several years I’ve enjoyed working with CIPS and supporting members in our area, be it with advice on study routes, local employers and vacancies, or best practice in their day jobs. The events bring us all together, and we need more of that post-pandemic.

I’m glad to be attending CIPS Futures because a lot of events these days are skewed towards sponsor or exhibitor content, but this event goes to the heart of procurement and aims to provide future insight across many areas, including careers. I’ll be networking with other procurement leaders and taking the learnings back to the branch and my colleagues at Procure4.

What are the reasons that you choose to volunteer for CIPS?

Emily Okonjo, FCIPS
PR and Communications Committee Member, CIPS Kenya Chapter

To give back to society through coaching, mentoring, supporting and guiding students and other members on the importance and benefits of having a CIPS qualification. At that time, there was a big knowledge gap within the procurement and supply chain profession in my country Kenya.

I wanted to be part of the team that would empower the supply chain professional community through creating forums and opportunities for them to have the much-needed information and knowledge.

Bala Anusha MCIPS Chartered
Volunteer Engagement Group, Northern Emirates Branch UAE.

I feel proud and valued to be part of a professional team, it's challenging and rewarding too. Sharing our professional skills, experience or knowledge, we are able to make a long term impact - on people, strategic partners and organisations.

I help to contribute towards their long term goals. Volunteering has given me the chance to give something back to the community and it makes a difference to the people around me. I feel so valued to be part of CIPS team.

Daniel Bassey MCIPS Chartered
Volunteer Engagement Group, West Africa

I volunteer because I desire to give back to the Institute that has greatly impacted my life and my future, either directly or indirectly. I desire to make a difference and encourage others to never throw in the towel, despite the challenges they may be facing.

CIPS has a way of supporting everyone to achieve beyond desired results. I volunteer in order to be a voice to many who desire to be heard but lack the voice

Claire M Penny MCIPS Chartered, Volunteer Engagement Group, Birmingham and Coventry Branch

There are a number of reasons I became a CIPS volunteer which include the opportunity to meet other procurement professionals and increase my network.

I wanted to increase my knowledge and learn from others, help share my experiences and support others, and be an ambassador for the profession to help attract new talent.

Jafles Pacheco FCIPS Chartered, Volunteer Engagement Group, Switzerland Branch, Europe

Giving back to the profession and contributing to its development were my main drivers to enroll as a volunteer. The networking and learning opportunities while volunteering are priceless in my view.

I help to contribute towards their long term goals. Volunteering has given me the chance to give something back to the community and it makes a difference to the people around me. I feel so valued to be part of CIPS team.

Jo Bailey FCIPS Chartered, New South Wales Branch, Australia

I know the positive influence that contemporary sustainable procurement can have on the success of businesses, communities, and personal careers.I'm keen to promote this and see the benefits multiply.

Being part of the CIPS volunteer community allows me to help elevate the profile of the procurement profession. The more people that want to work with and in procurement to develop their business solutions and their careers, the more great outcomes we'll see

What is your biggest achievement whilst volunteering for CIPS?

Annie Exildah Kazembe MCIPS Chartered
Malawi Branch, Africa

My biggest achievement was participating in career talks encouraging the young aspirants to pursue the program. It has also enabled me to develop in my career in that I have been teaching procurement and supply subjects in a number of colleges and university.

I have a lot of passion for being a volunteer...being a volunteer has made me a committed person to the profession. I am able to discuss issues with stakeholders that raise the platform of the profession. When people see me, they see CIPS. I have been with CIPS since early 1990s. I will always cherish and devote myself to lifting the profile of CIPS.

Anish Kumar MCIPS
Volunteer Engagement Group, Northern Emirates Branch, UAE

Utilizing the power of CIPS network of global professionals, the MCIPS credential is like a global passport for procurement professionals and through volunteering with the Branch I have had the chance to meet and learn from several senior procurement leaders. It has also given me a chance to share knowledge and best practices with my peers across the globe.

I help to contribute towards their long term goals. Volunteering has given me the chance to give something back to the community and it makes a difference to the people around me. I feel so valued to be part of CIPS team.
