Procurement Excellence Programme Independent Verifiers are recruited by CIPS to carry out independent verification of the assessment of both the Procurement Excellence Standard and Advanced Standard awards.

All independent verifications are allocated based on experience, availability and confirmation of no conflict of interest. CIPS cannot guarantee that IVs will have a set amount of opportunities but will endeavour to share the workload, where possible.
CIPS does not make any guarantee or commitment to the volume of work following completion of the process.
- If your initial application is accepted, you will be invited to complete a Skills Gap Analysis, a virtual interview and finally a training session on Procurement Excellence & Procurement & Supply Services.
- All independent verifiers will be required to sign a contract committing themselves to agreed Service Levels and general conditions including those relating to ethical code, confidentiality, impartiality and independence from commercial and other interests. Details of fees and payment terms are contained within the agreements. Fees are paid as standard for all independent verifiers depending on the activity being carried out.
- Conduct the PEP verifications as required, confirming whether the organisation has demonstrated compliance with the relevant PEP Primary Award / Standard / Advanced Standard criteria.
- Follow the quality assurance procedures pertaining to the verification.
- Analyse the evidence and the organisation’s responses to questions posed, collating a report on the organisation’s compliancy with any gaps identified.
- Record all findings within the CIPS PEP portal, ensuring information is accurate and reflective of the organisation’s performance and make recommendations to the Regulation & Audit team.
- Represent CIPS in professional environments, whilst maintaining objectivity with regards to the verification process.
