EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Supply Chain has achieved the highest level of recognition for world class procurement from CIPS and have been awarded Corporate certification – Platinum Standard, now known as Procurement Excellence Programme.
The team worked across the business to ensure that supply chain processes, practice and effectiveness are capable of withstanding examination against the world class platinum standard framework laid down by CIPS.
Paul Garrad, Head of Supply Chain at EDF Energy Nuclear Generation said, “Through CIPS certification we have been benchmarked against world standards in the profession and understand exactly where we are against leading supply chain practices. We have identified our strengths and, more importantly, our weaknesses to drive improved performance. Additionally we can engage with other leading organisations through the CIPS certification network to share knowledge, good practice and ideas for improvement. Finally for our people in our power stations and in our offices, CIPS Certification provides recognition of the professionalism they bring to our function every day.”
The team submitted over 500 pieces of evidence and more than 55,000 written words providing context for the CIPS assessors across the five assessment dimensions- leadership, strategy, people, process and systems and performance management. In addition customers, suppliers and team members from right across the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation business were audited by CIPS to establish an independent view of the supply chain department and its performance.
David Noble, CIPS CEO comments: “The energy sector is facing huge challenges over the coming decades from surety of supply to environmental concerns so it’s good to see proactive engagement and activity designed to meet those challenges.
“Platinum certification is our highest level of achievement for organisations and is demanding and tough. Those companies achieving this standard show themselves to be world-class in their performance, policies and those responsible for procurement activity as the best of the best.
“We welcome EDF Energy Nuclear Generation to this small, but growing group of platinum companies as they tackle those energy challenges of the future.”
