The Internet of Things and Social Media

Overview

The Internet of Things and Social Media

CPD 2A Gartner Survey of CEOs and Senior Executives highlighted an organisational focus on technology and technology-related change for the latter part of 2015 and 2016. Within this, a high percentage of respondents highlighted digital marketing and the Internet of Things as key areas for investment in the coming 5 years.

This workshop focuses on how procurement should be looking at the Internet of Things, how it will impact, and ultimately change, traditional procurement processes, and how the profession can leverage the elements of the IoT to its advantage.

The workshop will cover:

  • A definition of the IoT
  • An outline of the impact of the IoT on procurement
  • Where procurement needs to change
  • What organisations can do to stay ahead of the competition
  • How social media and global networks will play their role in this change

There will also be a brief update on Procurious and what CIPS members can expect from the network in the latter half of 2016.

Speakers

Euan Granger, Community and Content Manager, Procurious
I started out in Procurement in 2008 and spent 5 years working for BAE Systems managing high value contracts and working in cross-functional teams, before moving to Melbourne where I spent a year working as a procurement consultant. During that time I worked on projects for a number of high-profile clients, assisting them with improving process efficiency, streamlining procurement policies and delivering on site training on contract and supplier relationship management. I now work for Procurious, connecting with procurement and supply chain professionals from around the world, with the aim of equipping people with the skills to showcase the value procurement can bring to an organisation. In 2013 I completed an MSc and became MCIPS accredited.
