Optional BTEC units now available at St Helens College

10 February 2015

CIPS and qualifications provider Pearson have developed two optional units for 16 to 19-year-olds to start their procurement studies early at St Helens College.

The CIPS Centre of Excellence in Merseyside offers courses from the certificate in procurement and supply operations through to the professional diploma. Students at level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Business can now choose two optional units, ‘Principles of procurement and supply’ and ‘Implementing procurement and supply in business’.

The college has identified students of particular ability to take the two units, which, if taken with the whole programme, will enable them to achieve the CIPS Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations.

Esther Redman, CIPS’ education network manager, said: “Students were positive and found it interesting how many component parts might be procured.”
