BT gets perfect score on CIPS Sustainability Index

Multinational telecommunications company BT has achieved a perfect score in the CIPS Sustainability Index, demonstrating their absolute commitment to responsible procurement.

CIPS Sustainability Index is an independent supplier audit that examines organisations’ financial, social and environmental sustainability. Suppliers are rated to industry-approved levels, proving their credentials to multiple buyers in one central place, reducing buyer and supplier processes.

BT was invited to join the index in 2015 by one their customers, EDF Energy. Since then, more and more of BT’s business customers have joined the index making it a highly efficient way of sharing information about their performance.

Duncan Brock, CIPS Group Director commented: “BT has scored very highly on the Sustainability Index since they joined, and has kept improving ever since. We are really impressed by their achievement and hope it inspires other businesses, both in the telecoms sector and beyond, to commit to responsible procurement.”

Hari Sundaresan, Chief Procurement Officer BT Group, who was presented with a certificate to mark the company’s achievement, commented: “Customers and investors are placing ever greater emphasis on CSR, so external validation of our sustainability credentials is a great selling point. And as one of the UK’s largest energy users, BT has an important role to play in creating a low-carbon future.”
