On the 10th of October 2017, CIPS Nigeria hosted an event for its members in the region who heard from speakers from our senior professional community.

Also of interest, was the panel of discussion session. It was an interface of top industry CPOs with members, where questions were asked and answers offered; Concerns were raised, but pledge of commitment was also a focus.

On the 18 April 2018 -  ‘The Strategic Role of Procurement and Supply Chain in the Nigerian Economy’. at Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Lagos

The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Nigeria Branch recently organised their Annual conference

Attendance to the event included members of the Institute, intending members of the Procurement & Supply Chain professions drawn from various sectors, Invited speakers and guests from both Corporate and government institutions.

The Keynote Speaker, Mr Olukayode Pitan (Managing Director, Bank of Industry) was represented by the Bank's Group Head, Strategy & Corporate Transformation (Mr. Yinka Adeboye) and presentation was on the topic: The Strategic Role of Finance in Supply Chain in the Nigerian Economy.

The other two speakers who spoke at the event were:

  • Engr. Olubusola Ogunbanwo, General Manager - Supply Chain Management, Seplat Petroleum Development Company spoke on the topic: The Impact of Post-Contract Evaluation/Appraisal on the Nigerian Economy.
  • Arinze Oduah, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply, FCIPS, Senior Procurement Manager, Wells & Projects, Royal Dutch Shell, Port-Harcourt, Nigeria spoke on the topic: Improving Value for Money in Nigeria’s Capital Expenditure Projects.

There was also a Panel team that spoke on the event theme as it applied to their industry/sector. The panel team comprised of the following;

  • Yinka Adeboye - Group Head, Strategy & Corporate Transformation, Bank of Industry
  • Hussaini Yakubu - Managing Director, Linkifin Limited

  • Onafowote Idowu - General Manager, Lagos State Public Procurement Agency
  • Obinnia Abajue - Chief Executive Officer, Hygeia HMO Limited
  • Adeola Oduntan - General Manager, Supply Chain Management & Support Services, MTN Nigeria
  • Adetola Oduola - Head, Internal Audit, Visionscape Group

The highlight of the event was the election of new officers, being led by Uche Gob-Agundu FCIPS as the Branch Chair, to pilot the affairs of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Nigeria Branch from 2018 to 2020. Also the Event ended with a Dinner & Recognition Event where guests included; Bola Afolabi, PhD, FCIPS (CIPS Global Past President), Babs Omotowa FCIPS (Immediate Past Managing Director, NLNG), Chief Pascal Egwim FCIPS (First CIPS Nigeria Branch Chair), Daniel Bassey MCIPS (CIPS Global Congress Member, representing Africa members in the Institute), Michael Fadipe MCIPS (Immediate Past Branch Chair), Uche Gob-Agundu FCIPS (Current CIPS Nigeria Branch Chair), Gbogboade Akindele FCIPS, Igeme Ezenwata FCIPS were recognised for their services to the promotion of the Institute as well as the Procurement & Supply Chain Profession in Nigeria.
