    Public Procurement Profiler – Essentials

    Your free online evaluation to identify whether your agency has the essentials in place to operate an effective procurement function, and to provide the basis for an action plan for improvement.

    The Essentials tool is designed to establish whether your agency takes a structured or unstructured approach to procurement and to help you understand the consequences of any Essentials gaps; the more structured the approach, the better the procurement decisions and the better the outcomes. It takes the form of a series of 20 statements, each requiring you to enter a true or false answer. This takes around 15 minutes to do online and at the end you will instantly receive a full report which you can use to develop an action plan for improvement.


    The Evaluation

    The evaluation gives you an instant indicator to the following questions: 

    • How structured is your agency's procurement planning process?
    • Have you developed clear procurement processes for your agency?
    • Do you have a clear leadership structure for your agency's procurement function?
    • Do you monitor and control your procurement function?
    • Are you protecting your agency from risk?
    You will have a checklist of the 20 essential things your agency should be doing to spend taxpayers' money wisely, to inform the development of your procurement people, processes and policies. The evaluation can also help you identify needs in areas such as risk management and improving with perception of procurement in your agency.

    Profiler - Self Assessment

    An in-depth assessment designed to build conference in how you operate procurement for your public sector agency.

    Self Assessment helps you to identify whether you are using the best model of procurement for your agency and, through greater understanding, to improve your procurement approach and ensure it is fit for purpose. Self Assessment reports give internal and external stakeholders a level of confidence that your agency is spending in a manner that is principled, achieves best value and compares favourably to other agencies.

    The Assessment

    You can use the results of your Self Assessment to determine:

    • which out of six models of public procurement you are operating
    • how your model of procurement compares to those used by other public agencies of a similar type, both in the same country and around the world
    • the consquences of the procurement model you are currently operating
    • whether the model you are using is appropriate to achieving your agencies objectives
    • which other models of public procurement are appropriate for your agency to use
    • an action plan for continuous improvement
    The fee-based Self Assessment feautures 20 themes, which are taken from the four management functions - Plan, Process, Lead and Control - and requires you to identify from a number of statements the ones that best fit your approach.
    Access to the online tool is £350 GBP or $533 USD.
    Each model of procurement has both positive and negative consequences. Knowing which model your agency is using will help you improve te way you operate and develop a plan of continuous improvement.
