An introduction designed to remove the mystery that still shrouds Bitcoin, Blockchain and the Darkweb

Originating in 1750BCE, scribed on a tablet of clay and written in the ancient Cuneiform text, is thought to be the world’s oldest complaint letter. A Babylonian trader called Nanni had received a substandard shipment of copper from a merchant named Ea-Nasir who had retained his payment of silver. This highlights that international shipments, currency transactions and traceability of commercial activities are by no means a new challenge; however with the development of Bitcoins and Blockchains we have introduced two powerful new weapons in the quest for commercial diligence and legislative compliance.

    Summary of presentation:

Over the last six months, I have regularly asked procurement professionals what they think of “Bitcoins” and without exception I have been faced with a blank look or the suggestion that it is something the Finance team is looking at; mention the word “Blockchain” and it’s even more of a blank expression. Yet these two concepts should be central to every procurement strategy up and down the land and across the planet as they are full of potential and will become integral to procurement activity over the coming years.

    Biography of speaker:
