What does practical innovation look like in 2020? CIPS Victoria Committee invites you to a lunchtime discussion on innovation in procurement. Georgie Farmer of Microsoft's global Strategic Sourcing Group will share Modern Procurement Stories from the Microsoft business, and will moderate a panel discussion that explores real-world examples of innovation in procurement. Dave Andrews, who leads procurement planning and engagement for Microsoft in ANZ, ArcBlue Director Chris Newman, Snobal CEO Murray James  and VendorPanel founder and CEO, James Leatham, will be among the panelists. This event is sponsored by VendorPanel and will take place at Microsoft offices in Freshwater Place, Southbank.

    Georgie is a senior leader with over 15years experience driving business transformation regionally and globally for indirect Procurement services. Georgie joined Microsoft Asia in 2008 and has since held various roles in global operations, business engagement, category and supplier management. She is currently leading a global strategy for Events at Microsoft. Prior to Microsoft, Georgie was the VP of Travel APAC for JPMorganChase and started her career in sales within the payments and airline industries.

    Georgie is inspired by digital transformation and passionate about helping customers reach their full potential. She serves on the Asia Advisory Board of the Professional Conventions and Meetings Association (PCMA), holds a MBA from the Australian Graduate School Entrepreneurship and MCIPS.

    James is the Founder and CEO of VendorPanel.  He was previously Managing Partner in a specialist BPO that gave him insight into how large corporates engage with complicated supply chains, especially in services within knowledge-based economies.  After the business was acquired by an ASX listed professional services firm, he completed his earn-out and launched VendorPanel.
    Prior to this, James was a qualified Mountain Instructor, leading long-range wilderness expeditions of up to 90 days into Canada’s Arctic Circle, the US Rocky Mountains and the Kimberley region of Northern Australia. Whilst leading these trips he delivered university-accredited training on team leadership, decision-making, risk management and emergency management in a learning context of challenging environments and extreme conditions. Separately, he has delivered similar training programmes to corporate groups and management teams worldwide. James continues to draw on this experience as he navigates the journey of building a high growth startup.
