Mentoring for the CIPS Foundation - could you help?
30 April 2016
The CIPS Foundation helps people across the world study, often under very trying conditions. This year, we have supported over 110 bursary recipients in over 20 countries – 99% of our recipients self study. Many of these come from disadvantaged backgrounds, and are doing all they can to further their career prospects.
We desperately need more mentors as many of these individuals have no hands on procurement experience and they need skills development from people who have worked in the profession in different industries.
Graeme Card has become a mentor to two students, and finds the experience highly rewarding. He says it has given him a way of keeping his hand in with procurement since retiring, and also is a great way of giving something back. But he also thinks it is the perfect opportunity for people still working their way up the career ladder.
"Anyone who loves to learn, develop their role and continue to expand their procurement knowledge, or even just to refresh the basics, will enjoy mentoring."
