CIPS Oman branch hosted its inaugural event when more than 60 members attended a networking forum in Muscat, sponsored by Oman Oil Exploration and Production. The branch aims to provide CIPS members with training and development, as well as being a platform for members to network across the Omani business sector.

Supply chain visibility is key to meet the strategic challenges ahead, according to speakers at the second joint CIPS and Oil and Gas UK Supply Chain Seminar in Aberdeen in September. CIPS group customer relationships director Duncan Brock told delegates that without full visibility, organisations risk suffering reputational damage, disruption and increased costs.
Developing the skills of Saudi Arabian nationals is a priority, a recent CIPS event in Riyadh concluded. The importance of CIPS’ certification in improving Saudi Arabians’ efforts in securing employment, higher pay and accelerating their careers was also highlighted at the event.
The reintroduction of supply chain reporting to the Modern Slavery Bill, announced by the Home Office, will underpin CIPS’ work to ensure the profession has greater accountability and capability, according to group CEO David Noble. “The value of good management of supply chains cannot be underestimated and the profession has a huge role to play,” he said.
