Brexit: in or out?

US Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan’s aphorism seems particularly pertinent as the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union nears.

During the campaign we have been told that Brexit will save the NHS – or destroy it – that leaving the EU isn’t “punk” as Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook put it and that Vladimir Putin, according to a Russian government statement, “doesn’t have an opinion on Britain’s place in the EU”.
