Is Turkey's economic growth sustainable?

President Erdogan has stimulated the economy with tax breaks, a $63bn programme of investment in infrastructure and cheap loans to small and medium-sized businesses. What now? 

One of the biggest hits on Greek television, regularly watched by 70% of viewers, is a reality TV show made in Turkey. The Turkish version of Survivor is made by TV8, a channel run by Acun Ilicali, who rose to fame presenting the local version of Deal Or Deal. The show is one of Turkey’s most surprising exports, but its success is no fluke. Overseas sales of the country’s TV shows generate annual revenues of around $350m. In Latin America, Turkish dramas about the empowerment of women, a genre known in the industry as ‘dizi’, are now more popular than homegrown telenovelas.
