E-procurement solutions provider Elcom has launched an e-tendering system to help buyers drive down costs and source beyond their established supplier lists.
Produced in collaboration with software provider industry2industry, the Dynamic Trading System for e-Negotiation is an extension of Elcom's own procurement tools and is accessible through its e-commerce network or Internet procurement manager.
Buyers can use the system to conduct reverse auctions and issue requests for quotations, while suppliers can host forward auctions.
It is based on industry2industry's own set of applications that runs on an open, integration-enabled platform. Maintenance, repair and operations materials, direct materials, capital equipment and services will be traded across several models.
"It is a logical development of our procurement tools," said Tim Clarke, Elcom's professional services director. "Our existing customer base is beginning to see the benefits of reverse auctions, so we've provided them with the opportunity."
