Insurance company Royal & SunAlliance (RSA) will roll out its e-procurement system to include four more areas of spending by the end of the first quarter of this year.
"Basically, it will be car hire and a transition to full enablement of travel," Anthony Doyle, UK purchasing manager, told an e-procurement conference last week.
RSA staff can now buy 12 commodities online, including temporary labour, office supplies, marketing incentives, desktop IT and mobile phones.
Part of RSA's success in rolling out e-procurement has been through blocking other procurement routes, ensuring use of the system, Doyle told the London conference.
RSA started to investigate e-procurement in late 1998. Savings are expected to be around £20 million annually.
