Enterprise solutions provider SSA Global Technologies has expanded its enterprise resource planning platform to target e-procurement.

BPCS E-Procurement is an "out-of-the-box" package that will focus initially on maintenance, repair and operations buying and strategic sourcing. It can be used with industry standard e-marketplaces and buying consortia for online auctions.

The solution is based on Digital Union's ezMarket, released earlier this year, and is built on the IBM WebSphere Commerce Suite. The former manages procurement approval procedures and generates and tracks purchase orders.

Russell Storey, Europe, Middle East and Africa director for solutions management at SSA, said the partnership was formed after Digital Union produced case studies showing a return on investment in less than 90 days.

The solution will also expand Digital Union's customer base beyond small and medium enterprises. SSA has more than 6,000 clients in the automotive and engineering, pharmaceutical and chemical, and consumer packaged goods markets.
