MRO products distributor Electrocomponents has extended its UK e-commerce exchange to 10 further European markets.
The group's UK-based Internet Trading Channel claims to have brought in revenues of more than £20 million in the past year, with 350,000 users sourcing products from 2,000 suppliers. The European Internet Trading Channel supports 10 market stores in seven local languages and 11 currencies from a central e-commerce hub.
The exchange will be used by customers of Electrocomponents' subsidiaries in France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Each offering will be tailored to the local market and will include a local support network for users.
"The UK was always seen as a pilot project to test reaction," said Paul Parker, general manager of Internet trading at the UK subsidiary, RS Components.
