A shortlist of 50 organisations has been announced for this year's Kelly's Awards for Excellence in Purchasing and Supply, which is organised in association with CIPS and SM.

The shortlist, released last week, covers a total of 73 entries across 14 industry and inter-industry categories. Telecoms giant BT has the most shortlisted entries at nine, while Siemens Environmental Systems and the Halifax have four each.

North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust with Surestock health services are shortlisted three times, while Vauxhall Motors, Londis, Guinness UDV, Capital One Bank, Yorkshire Electricity and BOC - the overall winner in 1999 - have two apiece.

New categories this year include telecoms and technology, and best people development initiative.

The awards, which are sponsored by Visa Purchasing, BT Ignite and Commerce One, will be presented at a black tie dinner at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on 1 November.
