London businesses and local authorities have until March to pledge their support for a code to promote the procurement of recycled products.

The final text of the Green Procurement Code, launched in June by Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, has now been sent to businesses and borough councils.

It was drawn up by London Remade, a body launched last year to promote the use of recycled goods, after consultation with around 150 firms and 25 London borough councils.

The code identifies four levels of green purchasing to target.
