NHS Estates is close to choosing a partner with which to develop long-term partnerships for construction procurement.
The organisation has drawn up a shortlist of 12 potential supply chain partners for ProCure 21, devised in April 2000 to improve public-sector clients' relationships with construction.
The shortlist, which includes Laing, Amec Capital Projects, John Mowlem, Skanska Construction UK and Kier Build, will be judged on design quality and partnering ability. The final five will be chosen in April.
The programme aims to promote better capital procurement by using long-term framework agreements with a limited number of suppliers.
The final bidders will act as framework contractors for £300 million worth of contracts in three-year pilot schemes in north-west England and the West Midlands.
