Potential winners of the Kelly's CIPS Awards for Excellence in Purchasing and Supply have over a week to get their entries in.
One of the new categories in this year's awards, run in association with SM, is "best ethical purchasing initiative".
"Ethical issues have shot up the business agenda in the past couple of years," said Peter Smith, CIPS's vice-president and chair of the judging panel.
"These include not only corporate social responsibility and the environment, but also other initiatives such as encouraging smaller suppliers. As purchasing professionals we can make a real difference in this area."
The other new categories are "most improved purchasing operation" and "best international/global purchasing project". They join "best people development initiative"; "best purchaser-supplier partnership"; "best purchasing initiative by an SME" (fewer than 500 employees); and "best use of e-procurement".
There are also six industry sector categories: central government and its agencies; financial and professional services; general and retail services; local government, health and education; manufacturing and engineering; and utilities, construction and telecoms.
The closing date for entries is 26 July. For further information and an entry form, visit www.supplymanagement.com/kellys
