Construction-based e-business software supplier BuildOnline has continued to expand across Europe with the merger of its German operations with Frankfurt-based rival MyBau.

Mark Suster, chief executive of BuildOnline, said MyBau's main shareholders, construction companies Bilfinger Berger and Strabag, would use BuildOnline's software for their European and international business.

Bilfinger Berger is the second largest German construction company with annual turnover of £2.8 billion, of which 40 per cent is in Germany.

Strabag is the largest construction firm in Austria, and the fourth biggest in Germany, with a turnover of £3.4 billion.

The move follows BuildOnline's purchase last year of another rival, German collaborative software company iScraper.

"BuildOnline started in 1998 and we hope to make our first profit this year," said Suster.

"We have six projects under negotiation right now and have several products available in the US and Australia.

"But the focus is Europe and probably in the next two years we will move into the US."
