The Office of Government Commerce has agreed with major IT suppliers that contractors will appoint someone to be ultimately responsible for delivering contracts to specifications.

For all major IT contracts the senior responsible industry executive (SRIE) will carry the responsibility to ensure that it is within budget, delivered on time, and that issues are noted before they become a problem.

The SRIE will liaise with their government equivalent, the senior responsible owner who has the same responsibilities on the client side.

This is to ensure that potential problems are handled before they become major issues affecting IT delivery.
