Supply chain software company Causeway Technologies is to develop a solution for construction firms to manage the total cost of building projects.

The company will provide a common platform to allow clients, consultants and contractors involved in a contract to monitor costs at every stage via a shared database.

The solution aims to help clients and contractors from the conceptual estimate, through the procurement and contract management, to the final stages of construction and maintenance.

Causeway Technologies, which specialises in construction, purchased the basic software from supply chain management consultancy Franklin + Andrews, which has become a shareholder.

The tool completes Causeway’s existing cost management solutions, currently used on more than £7 billion projects a year, and is its first to span the entire project life cycle.

The tool’s first client is Franklin + Andrews’ project management firm Osprey PMI, which will be piloting the software over the next six months.
