Duncan Eaton, chief executive of the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (Pasa), has joined the supervisory board of e.centre, the supply chain standards authority.
The centre is a not-for-profit organisation providing guidance and support for its 16,000 members on the use of bar coding and business-to-business communications standards such as EDI and ebXML.
Eaton will advise on the development of a national standard for use in the healthcare sector to improve asset tracking, order management, logistics and collaborative planning.
He was the chief executive of Bedfordshire Health Authority before becoming the first leader of Pasa when it was formed in April 2000.
Eaton is also a past president of CIPS.
