Andy Wright has swapped chocolate for whisky after joining international drinks giant Pernod Ricard in a newly created role.
Wright, formerly head of purchasing at confectioners Thorntons, has been appointed sourcing manager for Chivas Brothers, Pernod's whisky division based in Paisley, Scotland.
He is responsible for purchasing and vendor quality for all packaging supplies to the company's bottling facilities throughout the country.
Chivas created the role to improve the performance and quality of its suppliers for all of its whisky brands, which include Glenlivet and Chivas Regal.
Wright said: "Vendor quality managers and commodity managers under my command will spend more time on suppliers' premises, ensuring product quality meets our standards much earlier."
Despite missing the sweet dividends of working for confectioners, Wright is already learning to acquire the whisky habit.
"I'm going through an intense induction into the culture of the drink and the differences between distilleries, casks and blends. I'm not a great whisky drinker yet, but it looks like that's about to change!"
