B2eMarkets buys Diligent to strengthen software range

B2eMarkets has strengthened its sourcing software portfolio by purchasing rival firm Diligent Software.

The acquisition gives B2eMarkets a contract management module to integrate into its supply management suite, which comprises applications for programme management, category and strategy processes and supplier negotiations.

The application is available as the rebranded B2eMarkets Contract Manager, and will be fully integrated into the suite by the end of the year.

Richard Waugh, chief sales and marketing officer, said that Diligent, formerly known as Webango, was a natural target for takeover because it focused on the front end of the sourcing process, an area that B2eMarkets had not fully addressed.

The move comes as B2eMarkets launches Performance Manager, a supplier development and performance management platform that helps users to collaborate with suppliers on performance metrics, reporting and improvements.

The company aims to extend the service to rate buyers' performances through scorecards, reports and analysis in a second version due next year.

It has devised an accompanying free benchmarking service, available on its website or through an on-site consultation, to help organisations measure the effectiveness of their e-sourcing strategy and find out ways of generating savings.
