Martin George has been appointed vice-president and managing director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region at BreconRidge Manufacturing Solutions.

The company has bases in Ottawa, New York State, China and South Wales. Its activities include design, engineering and manufacturing services, and global component sourcing.

George is to develop its trade in Europe and co-ordinate the increasing use of BreconRidge's global manufacturing base.

"I'll focus on restructuring our European operations through our UK base," said George, who served on the CIPS information systems committee in the mid-1990s.

He believes that the European electronic manufacturing services market will grow by 20 per cent this year.

"But lead times for products such as semiconductors and displays are tightening too, as much as 15-20 weeks, and so the best-performing companies will know where to source the increasingly scarce products and in the most efficient way," he said.

George was previously vice-president of operations at Eurodis Electron, a UK distributor of electronic components.
