TXT will launch a series of supply chain solutions, called Perform, at the beginning of 2005.

Perform is a platform for use alongside TXT's Supply Chain and Customer Management (SC&CM) suite.

The initial launch is part of a continuous evolution of SC& CM, according to Richard Nicholas, UK marketing manager for TXT.

"Perform and SC&CM handle the supply chain from raw materials to manufacturing and on to stockholding," he said.

"Most people look for savings in only one area at a time. But savings in one area can often mean inefficiencies, including increased costs, are created in other areas as a spin-off."

There is a growing need for purchasers to have access to more usable information not traditionally available, he added.

"Purchasers are moving closer to operational people and need to share the same information."

The platform will strengthen and expand integration with Microsoft Office and Microsoft personal productivity tools already familiar to purchasers.

Milan-based TXT will support any modules that its new Perform package supersedes for five years.

Perform can be used in a number of vertical markets, including automotive, fashion, and food and beverages, as well as many within discrete manufacturing areas.

As part of the Perform launch, TXT has also agreed a partnership deal with Ascential Software Corpora-tion, a US enterprise data-integration company.

The agreement allows for Ascential's DataStage, a software solution for analytical, operational and transactional data transformation, to be embedded into TXT's SC&CM suite.

DataStage allows for large and complex data from different software applications to be used by TXT's SC&CM tools.
