Marc Heeley has been appointed purchasing manager at the Football Association. He joins the London-based organisation after two-and-a-half years as a sourcing specialist at Prudential.
Heeley will be part of a small team in a department with a budget in the tens of millions of pounds, reporting to head of purchasing Fiona Swainston.
"The purchasing team is involved in everything, from gifts and merchandise with FA and England branding to FA Cup winners' medals and trophies, hotels, flights and travel for the England teams," he said.
Heeley will also project manage the implementation of an
e-requisitioning, purchase order and expenses system, which will be in place late in 2004.
"Our key objectives are going to be lowering costs and reducing risks to the business," he said. "This will result in greater use of preferred suppliers to drive improved service levels, better terms and conditions and ensuring we provide a professional service to all FA colleagues."
Heeley has also worked for Ernst & Young and was a materials controller for garment-label manufacturer J&A International, which he joined aged 19.
After Ernst & Young he moved on to Cable & Wireless before joining Prudential.
