Andy Yearsley has joined consultancy Cap Gemini Ernst & Young as an executive consultant in the sourcing and relationship management team within the supply chain group.
At CGE&Y, Yearsley will look at sourcing in emerging markets as well as e-procurement, strategic sourcing and lean operating capabilities.
Previously, he was at Ford Motor Company as European global sourcing development director. He moved more than $2.5 billion of annual spend with suppliers to lower-cost countries, producing net savings of more than 13 per cent.
"Many purchasers struggle to get that 10-15 per cent saving when they source from emerging markets," he said.
"They fail to factor in the added problems of distances, language barriers, and the time to manage suppliers not used to dealing with western companies."
