Nick Auld has been appointed trade services manager at vehicle contract hire company Custom Fleet to oversee a purchasing budget of about £100 million.

In his new job, Auld will report directly to the managing director and be responsible for overseeing the buying of up to 7,000 cars a year, along with pricing, disposals, maintenance, rental and manufacturer and supplier relationships.

Auld, who is a member of the Institute of Car Fleet Management and CIPS, is to play a key role in growing the business, formerly known as Eden Vehicle Rentals.

His priorities will be to work on buying processes at Custom Fleet and building relationships with vehicle manufacturers.

"I'll be looking at getting price data delivered more quickly to customers and at authorisation," he said. "I've also been tasked with improving rates to customers and discount terms.

"This is a very exciting time to be joining Custom Fleet. We have our sights set firmly on growth."

Auld moves to the newly created post from head of operations at Netherlands-based leasing company Arma. Previously, he worked for eight years at Fleetlease, where his final job was pricing manager.
