Famed for his rousing speech to troops in Kuwait ahead of the Iraq war, Colonel Tim Collins OBE (left) will demonstrate his oratorical skills at this year's CIPS Premier Conference.
He will deliver the inaugural lecture on the evening of 4 October. Collins, who left the army in August 2004, served in Cyprus, Northern Ireland, Bosnia and the Falkland Islands during his 23-year service.
He came to prominence in 2003 after his pre-battle address to his regiment gained national attention. "We go to liberate, not to conquer," he told 800 soldiers. "If you are ferocious in battle, remember, be magnanimous in victory."
Conference delegates can attend his address, as well as a reception as part of their fee. Non-delegates can also attend and tickets are £45.
Also included in the delegate fee is the conference's closing address by PY Gerbeau, former chief executive of the Dome. Gerbeau is now executive director of leisure property company Capital & Regional.
The CIPS Premier Conference "Securing the Future - just cutting costs is not enough" takes place on 5-6 October 2005 at the Victoria Park Plaza hotel, London.
