Further changes are taking place in the purchasing department at Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The latest moves follow the merger of the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise earlier this year and see Mark Forth, the department's director of procurement, leaving after 33 years.

Forth, who was previously with the Inland Revenue, said he is not planning to apply for the post of commercial director of the merged department.

In the meantime Capgemini consultant Roger West has been appointed to assist with the changes.

Although West is a consultant with Capgemini, the department's biggest supplier, a spokesman said there was no conflict of interest. The Aspire contract, in which the department selects strategic partners, is managed by the chief information officer's team.
