US procurement software firms TradeCard, Ariba and Xign have been ranked as the top three suppliers of electronic invoicing systems, according to analysis by Forrester Research.
The research, The Forrester Wave: Accounts Payable EIPP, Q3 2005, evaluated products from nine major suppliers across the US and Europe. The products, all of which are available in the UK, were weighed up according to 74 criteria including functionality, how well they integrated with other software, ability to be used on a global scale, security and customer support.
US-based suppliers TradeCard, Xign and Ariba ranked in the top three, while Finland-based BasWare rated as the highest scoring European vendor.
However, there was no overall winner because products scored differently according to the various criteria. Xign was the leader in functionality, Ariba was strongest in the technology category and TradeCard rated the best for operating globally.
UK firms Burns, Open Business Exchange, and B-process from France, were also noted as strong overall performers.
Forrester Research analyst Andrew Bartels told SM US-designed products scored higher because the US market allows its systems to have more payment features than European regulations will permit. "BasWare was rated well because it had made huge inroads into the US market," he said.
