Interim purchasing professionals have seen a 23.5 per cent rise in their pay in the past 18 months.
Research by interim management firm Russam GMS shows the average daily rate for buyers in June 2004 was £425. By December 2005 it was £525.
The figures were part of a half-yearly snapshot survey of market conditions for interims in all fields. While procurement commands a good rate, it is slightly lower than the overall average daily rate of £537 for all interims.
John Wilson, head of the manufacturing and supply chain practice at Russam GMS, told SM
: "Sourcing from Eastern Europe or the Far East is becoming unavoidable. Organisations are taking on interim managers with the knowledge and experience to support outsourcing."
