The Scottish Parliament yesterday signed a £1.75 million a year contract for the delivery of IT services.

LogicaCMG UK will provide IT security, network support, systems installation, maintenance and technology updates. It will also cover IT services that support business at constituency and regional offices.

The five-year contract begins in January with the option to extend for a further five years on a yearly basis. It replaces a seven-year contract with Wipro Technologies.

The award of the contract follows a competitive tender process with 32 suppliers.

Parliament chief executive Paul Grice said: "The new contract represents a cost saving of some 35 per cent for the provision of the parliament's core IT support services when compared to the current arrangement, and underscores the parliament's commitment to use public funds as cost effectively as possible."
