Up to seven procurement placements in central government are being offered to graduates under a new OGC scheme launched last week.
The Government Procurement Service Fast Stream Procurement Placement Option will provide members of the Civil Service Fast Stream programme - a graduate entry route for senior civil service careers - with positions for between 12 and 18 months.
On-the-job development, support from a personal mentor and procurement buddy, affiliate membership of the Government Procurement Service (GPS) and a formal professional qualification, funded by the GPS, are among the benefits of the scheme.
The departments hosting the placements will be: the Highways Agency (Department for Transport), the Ministry of Defence, NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency, the OGC, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Olympic Delivery Authority and HM Prison Service.
Cabinet secretary Sir Gus O'Donnell described the placements as "a great opportunity to build key skills and make a real impact at the heart of delivering public service outcomes".
